Do you have any immediate vacancies?
We do not have any immediate vacancies at this time. However, we are accepting applications for the waiting list. The first step would be to come to Franklin Square and pick up an application. Once you have returned your completed application, your name will be placed on the waiting list. Availability varies by apartment size, and we will let you know as soon as one becomes available.
Do you have two-bedroom apartments?
Yes. Two-bedrooms are reserved for those with at least two people in the household.
Do you have accessible units?
Yes. We have both mobile and hearing/vision accessible units.
How much is the rent?
We are federally subsidized housing. Rent is based on roughly 30% of your income. We say "roughly" because once we determine your income, we do give deductions from that amount that qualify under the HUD (Dept. of Housing and Urban Development) formula, such as out-of-pocket medical expenses.
What utilities are included?
Franklin Square Village pays the heating and water bills. Tenants pay for gas and electric, as well as any other amenities such as cable and phone.
Do apartments have a laundry room?
There are no individual laundry rooms in the apartments, but we do have four laundry room facilities conveniently located throughout the complex.
Do you allow pets?
We do allow pets as long as you comply with our pet policy.
How close are you to supermarkets and stores?
We are within walking distance to the stores. Also, the township runs a free bus service from the Franklin Square Village community center to the shopping centers, Mondays through Thursdays.
Am I going to be very alone there?
We doubt it. We have a very active community with lots of activities going on all the time. We also have a residents' association that plans activities and trips. A monthly newsletter gets sent to all residents with these activities listed in it. These activities include a weekly hairdresser on site, weekly bingo, Pokeno three days a week, first-Friday mass, a birdwatching station with a BBQ pit, a first-Saturday dance from September to June, a third-Saturday social with a DJ and food, and a second-Thursday hot meal. Plus, there's a lot more. How involved you get depends on how much you want to do, but there's always something to do. (Please see the "About" page on this website for more things to do.)
